WELCOME to our HURRICANE FRANCES and HURRICANE JEANNE PAGE!

Hurricane FRANCES was a powerful Category 2 Hurricane that struck southeast
Florida during the Labor Day weekend of 2004 - bringing heavy rain, local flooding,
sustained winds of 80+ mph with some gusts over 100 mph!HURRICANE JEANNE was an even more powerful Category 3 Hurricane that struck almost along the identical path 2 weeks later.
This page is for information & educating you the consumer, before you purchase a Fence, what will hold up better & which fence will out perform others during a hurricane.
Most chain link fences will survive, unless a tree falls on the fence.
For wood fences, most will lean, some worse than others, depending on how much concrete is used & if the wind is for extended periods of time. Some panels may be blown out, which is common in heavy wind gusts, but if the posts are concreted properly, they will stay!
For PVC fences, most will stand, with some picket loss & some leaning on privacy fences that are solid boards. This is common, but you do not want to see posts that are bent, split, cracked or shattered, which would indicate an inferior product in the marketplace.
These pictures are for you to evaluate the minimal damage to the extreme damage & to help you decide what fence will better fit your needs.

Clearly the above photos show "Total Product Failure" Not all pvc (poly vinyl chloride), fences are alike, so be careful. Co-extrusion is a far better product than monoextruded, above pictures of " inferior product". Let the pictures be your guide. The supplier bragged about the "big" bottom channel 2" x7", Mono-extruded technology the "big" 1-1/2" x 5-1/2" Pickets, on their semi privacy fence. Then let's not forget there posts are better than the other guy, so this supplier stated. The posts shattered & cracked. Is it better?? You decide.Here are some photos taken after HURRICANE JEANNE, the more powerful category 3 storm;
